1. get a magnet. i used one of those magnets in the shape of a pen.
2. take one individual magnet and hover it near the arrow keys (or even farther down) until it goes to sleep.

this works because chromebook sleep mode needs two magnets needed to touch in order for the command to register. sure to piss off your friends!
