I tried your recipe without success.
Of course, it has been 2 years.
I tried other ways but I was not successful, mainly because grafana uses Yarn to build the frontend and that is not supported by Yocto to my understanding.

Where you able to get this going?

Hi,
No unfortunately not, I successfully got myself offspring, married, moved, changed job and started renovating a house the last two years. And currently I am slowly getting back to my own project stuff, when I have some thing called time. But currently nothing to do with Yocto at all. Mainly trainings for completely other stuff. Don't know when I get back to this. There is also other stuff with Yocto I want to continue (My Robotics Mindstorms Yocto Image (H4R EV3) for example) but the thing called 'free time' is so rare to find these days ;-)
