This happens every day. I would much rather it just simply install the definition updates and not bother me. I tried going back into the utility and choosing "Reset Updates," but that didn't work. In fact, under Windows Update; Advanced Options; Configured update policies, it shows that there is a group policy set for "Set Automatic Update options." I just now dug around in the Group Policy Editor, and even asked Microsoft Copilot, and could not find that group policy anywhere. Unfortunately, clicking on the message that says that policy is set, doesn't do anything.
Is there a way, whether within the WinUtil utility, or somewhere else that I can get the Defender updates to simply go ahead and install every time they are downloaded?
What I really want, is for all the Windows Update configurations to be reset to what you really and truly get after a Stock Windows install. Then I can configure what I want within the standard Windows Settings.
Here is my Windows version information:
Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 24H2
Installed on 12/7/2024
OS build 26100.2605
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.36.0
Please. I do not need anyone telling me that I shouldn't use Windows Defender. Please don't clutter up this thread with that debate.
