I am writing a flutter app for linux and was unable to use this package, apparently 'dart:cli' isn't supported in flutter...not even for desktop platforms.

You should remove the flutter badge from pub.dev so others don't make the same mistake.

btw dart:cli was not used, in my pr i removed it.
