Mike Manyin reported a user was asking about running regrid.pl at NAS (because they have no NCCS account and are running GEOS there) which is currently forbidden. The code makes an explicit check that you are on one of the known node classes at NCCS and fails if you are not.
I understand that for regridding from MERRA or MERRA2 this makes sense as the 30+ years of MERRA and MERRA2 is not sitting at NAS.
For user supplied restarts however, this seems like it should be technically possible as we have all the boundary conditions sitting out there at NAS.
There are probably directory path issues to clear up and PBS/SLURM handling that needs to be done but seems doable.
