This issue is unique.

  • I have used the search tool and did not find an issue describing my idea.

Your idea.

I had quite some trouble figuring out how freezing panes worked in OnlyOffice, and didn't realize that I could freeze ranges like Excel...

I wanted to freeze the top row and the first column, so I clicked on both options, but realized it was either or. Then, when I looked at the menu options to see if I could freeze a range instead from the select cell, I was only met with the options of freezing the top, freezing the bottom, or unfreezing it completely:

This made me think that OnlyOffice didn't offer the option of freezing a range of panes, even though some digging in the docs indicated that it did...

To change my selection, I first had to unfreeze, then select the cell, then click on the freeze pane option:

I would suggest the following:

  • When cells are already frozen, there should be another menu item which allows users to modify the existing selection. It could have the exact same name as the current Freeze pane option.
  • Rename the Freeze pane menu option so that it's clear that you're freezing the panes from a certain cell. Instead of the menu option being called "Freeze panes" (which isn't very descriptive and easy to miss), it could be called "Freeze panes from cell B2", or "Freeze panes from selected cell"

Excel uses the same generic "Freeze Panes" menu option, but the icon and help text lets the user know that they are freezing a range
