Recommended Specs:

  • Multi-core, ARM-based (or x86_64/AMD64) devices
  • 16 Mbytes of Flash memory
  • 128 Mbytes of RAM

Routers:

  • Fujitsu S920 paired with a PCIe NIC (Really cheap on eBay)
  • Orange Pi 5
  • Dell r210 ??

Have to dig deeper into these models and OpenWRT too.
@leandroebner @ZezinZika Also, I did stumble upon an alternative to OpenWRT called pfSense. Some people prefer that over OpenWRT. Should I look into that too or are we sticking to OpenWRT only?

Interesting, Staehle recommended us to use OpenWRT, because it is what the are using for their stuff, but feel free to research more on other options!

Regarding the specs of the router, I think the keypoint is, dual channel capabilities!

Can you hop in a call around 1550 for us to chat a bit about this @leandroebner @GokulEdakkePuram ?

Just went through some forum posts about it, a lot of people recommending it for OpenWRT applications, and I think it goes for around 70 euros? Bargain IMO...

@leandroebner would you like to weight in?
