  • Perhaps dedicating sessions - Jake suggests 2 days
  • Open to all - whoever wants to help

  • Would be good to get input and feedback
  • 2 previous efforts - this one needs documentation to succeed
  • This effort should learn from those mistakes
• Dedicated hackathon/coding sessions
  • Prepare topics in advance to make these sessions effective
  • Topic: SBOL2 <-> SBOL3 converter
    • We need this, there is demand, we have a start

Don't do too many things at HARMONY, choose just a few and get them done.

IWBDA / Sponsorship

• Raised to BDAC
• BDAC agreed that it would be good to have SBOL join forces
• Common fundraising
• We need to sit down with BDAC
  • We need to establish a bare minimum
  • And then what we'd do with more money if available
• SBOL Industrial has numbers from past years
  • $5K gives money for servers and some travel support
  • $20K-$25K supports $5K plus student projects
  • $50K-$100K supports $25K plus consultants
• Next step: Prashant to set up a meeting between BDAC and SBOL Steering Committee
• Supporting Editor travel has been handled through BDAC in the past - Jake Beal and Aaron Adler have been involved

SBOL Blog

• Idea from editors to help with engagement
• Name ideas are on an issue on the web site GitHub
• Would like to have some articles queued up for publishing - authors welcome

SBOL Standard Website

• There is a list of members which is hard to maintain
• Reorganize to list groups, labs, projects, etc instead of individuals
• Should we still have an SBOL community page? SbolStandardWebsite#242

New SBOL members

• Inviting to SBOL Steering and SBOL Advisory Committee
• Two editor roles will be opening this year
• We are developing a list of candidates and are eager to grow that list
• We would also like to establish an SBOL Editors alumni group to keep past editors involved in the community

iGEM Software

• Added IDT complexity score
• Would like to add Twist complexity score
  • Do we have access to anyone at Twist?
• This might also be good to tie in to fundraising
  • Twist is helping with IWBDA funding, for example
  • We would like more engagement with Twist

Upcoming tutorials: SEED, IWBDA

• Chris Myers will be running a tutorial at SEED this year
• SEED is in Atlanta in June
• Jake has been leading the IWBDA tutorial in the past
• IWBDA is in Boston in the Autumn
• IWBDA often has the same players, we might want to have a "What's New" session for people who have taken the SBOL tutorial
• Coordinate with student projects so they could use SBOL
