see #247 for some related background.

i could see this as a generally useful thing, but given the linked request ^ it becomes more relevant. if you are applying temporal filters from floaters, potentially multiple floaters, you may not want your floaters to respond to temporal filters. i could see users choosing whether they would like floaters responsive to all filters, or to those not including space (viewport) or time (ez filter only?). details tbd, mockups pending.

I think more important would be having the plots respond to clicked markers.
