I don't know enough ruby to submit e patch, but would there be a way to send a hash of points?

The underlying support is there (for static maps at least) but it's not yet implemented in JS - it'll take a bit of a rethinking but I'd be happy to do it in the near future when I get time (next 2-3 weeks)
