Talked to Penta (inventor of teh beast^Wbassbucket) and he totally fixed me up with the concept.
Check it out here:

Deep'n'cheap as fsck. Needs:

  • Bass string (LONG, fat, arco(bow)-compatible!)

  • A few meters two-by-four

  • 1m-something of better quailty wood (Palisander, Ebenholz, Ahornholz, Birnbaum, Buchenholz, Wenge) as fingerboard

  • Screw thread to adjust fingerboard

  • nut (sattel) material to guide/hover the string

  • round wooden peg as tuning peg

  • hose clamp to adjust peg or something similar

  • bucket string attachment plate

  • We have a preliminary bucket. It is yellow, square and probably has its very own distinguished sound.

A quick release skewer might help as a simple solution to adjust the string tension

Penta bought a cement bucket, rope-"strings" and a few other tidbits and got a hardwood fretboard built
