It is happening when handle suffix is kind of special like in the customer/uk instance. When the suffix is like that: test_uk_data_.
The problem is that the handle of the new version is the same than the previous version.

I tried to replicate the problem with the subprefix "test_uk_data_". The handle of the created item was "123456789/test_uk_data_-5471", and the handle of the version history item was "123456789/test_uk_data_5472". I created three more version history items, and each of them has a different handle (incremented by one).
