Beyond the Catalog: data portals are about sharing insights not just data

(for many years e.g. 10y+) we have seen that data portals can and should be much more than just a catalog of raw data. They should be for sharing insights and data stories as well as datasets.

And these two features support each other: stories without the raw source data are untransparent and ungrounded. Conversely, datasets need context and stories to bring them alive, to make them meaningful, to enable them to be understood.

Share your insights, not just your data ...

• Create data driven stories on your data portal
• Add essential context (documentation, narrative etc)
