There were 2 issues I faced, that the README could address -
1) Issue with non-default (100%) display scale setting - The README mentions the Resolution between the 2 devices - Server & Client should match. In my case, while they did match I noticed that the mouse cursor would move to the client but get stuck in the bottom right corner.
After a lot of searching I found out that the Scale (on both my Windows machines) was set at 125%, while this makes the text appear larger. It also made Barrier not work. The issue due to Scale should perhaps be mentioned in the README. In addition, handling non 100% scale should also be an issue that needs fixing.
2) Disabling SSL - while this may not be advisable in a public network. Initially for testing purposes this seems to help debug issues.

I installed Barrier and followed the README (https://github.com/debauchee/barrier) for configuration, while it all seemed to work.
