Not sure if this tool is still maintained, but going to note this here, in case it helps someone else. This tool works well with very old versions of Ghost, I imported a blog using 0.11 (db version 005), and it worked perfectly. However for newer versions the json format has changed, e.g., importing from a json dump with version 3.4.0 the post cover images did not get imported, because the relevant key changed from "image" to "feature_image"; simply running a global search and replace on the json file to replace "image" with "feature_image" made it work for that specific version, but there might be other breakage in more recent versions. (If possible, it is probably better to use the core jekyll importer and the db file instead of the json backup.)
