Please consider adding buttons next to the Options (cog) in the popup menu inside the search bar to delete the text and another to retrieve the previous search word (preferably shows a sub-menu with many choices), and maybe a favorite button with (pinned) keywords (or maybe combined into one with the pinned on top but just after the last keyword)

There is an option to restore the last query the next time you open the menu:
But that is only the last search, not a history of many previous searches. Do you often find yourself typing a lot to find the desired tabs? I generally find the queries short enough that it's easier to just retype them than it would be to try to find them in a dropdown.
Sorry, I missed the delete button. It works as expected and shows up without a problem. To have a history button for queries in that area to retrieve them, instead of having to type each time, delete, and then switch back to the most recent tabs, and then doing that all over again. Perhaps another concept that you could come up with could be considered.
