Please don't!!
Use a proper video format instead, e.g. h264.
Gif has no inter-frame compression and only useful when lotsa gifs are to be displayed at once (minimizes computations).

The 40MB gif you think you replaced with a smaller version btw still bloats your repo, and wastes users' disk space. (88MBs total, and still 36MB (17MB for arts directory x2) when doing a blob-less clone.)
