  • I was not able to find an open or closed issue matching what I'm seeing

Setup

  • Which version of Git for Windows are you using? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

Strangely enough, I had no trouble finding open and closed issues talking about aux: https://github.com/git-for-windows/git/issues?q=is%3Aissue%20state%3Aopen%20aux

tl;dr aux (and also aux.c) is not a legal file name on Windows.
