What should happen

Maybe PPSSPP should have an UI representing the essence of PSP.
Maybe as an option.
Maybe to reinforce the gaming experience.
Maybe avoiding Sony's lawsuit... 🫢

The following video is a capture of a Figma prototype presenting designs re-imagining the XMB system between full retro experience and new devices capacities.

There is only some main menu options, based on iPhone default menu experience.
Feel free to suggest improvements or destroy the all vision.

PPSSPP.Figma.mp4

If interested I will design all views, menus and option on all devices in mind.

Who would this benefit

Maybe all users who, like me, keep the 30th anniversary theme on their PS5...

The goal here is to simply suggest a redesign.
As a UI/UX designer in a tech company, I really understand the consequences and the amount of work bringing those suggestions to life.
So feel free to save this for a future far far away, in a galaxy far far away. 😉

Enjoy!

This has been asked for and proposed a number of times, but the XMB is neither good for mouse nor for touchscreens, and replacing the current UI is a huge project that would better have some real benefits, instead of drawbacks.

So no, this isn't planned. Maybe one day there will be a lua API allowing custom UIs in addition to the main one...

I completely understand! 🙂 Very true that this kind of interface is not suitable for pointers and touch.

At the same time, I'm quite interested to know how the "UI/UX process" is organized?
A part from a total redesign, is it possible to contribute to the app design? And in that case, what is the best way to do it?

Thank you for your response.
