Shortcode for particular user not working

I am trying to use [usermeta key="meta key" user="user id"] per the documentation. I want to use a shortcode to see the usermeta field for a particular user (NOT the current user)

However, this shortcode does not work. I can only get the [usermeta fields "fields"] shortcode to work. The user parameter does not work.

I know this plugin is no longer supported, but please help! How do I get this to work.
