Steps to reproduce

Step to reproduce

  1. Download a video using LibreTube.
  2. Close the app and clear its notification
  3. Check Running apps in Developer options

Expected behavior

No running process should be there after completed download & closing the app

Actual behavior

You will find LibreTube's Download Service running indefinitely.
Also i can't clear all Libretube's notification at once. i have to manually clear it separately for audio, video, subtitles.

LibreTube version

0.23.1

Android version

Android 11

Not sure if this is connected to my problem: Tonight i got an notification that my roaming data volume was consumed already and i noticed that libretube downloaded overnight 32GB. i had only a 972MB download in the queue and went then sleeping.

I feel the problem I am going to describe here may or may not be directly related, but the title seems to appropriately match the description. Here’s my issue:

  • When I attempt to download a playlist of over 800 songs offline without using any DNS services, the process often gets stuck at random points. For instance, the download may stop at 360, 450, or occasionally at 801 songs, but these points vary with each attempt. Retrying the process doesn’t consistently fix the issue, as the stopping point changes unpredictably.

  • Using Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1) seems to resolve the issue, allowing downloads to complete maximum , However, there’s an additional step required: I have to clear the app data (for the app LibreTube) to make the download process work properly.

  • Additionally, there are strange behaviors with the app’s download notifications. Despite setting the maximum concurrent downloads to 1, the app attempts to download all songs concurrently, ignoring the specified limit. As a result, some songs, even after being downloaded completely, still appear as downloading in the notification bar.
