We often have Loadshedding - planned power failures due to incomplete country power capacity - and then the mac will restart when it comes back on. However Catch doesn't remember which items were previously downloaded, and then downloads everything again - usually about 45+ items.

V2.1 (780)

Make sure to do the following before submitting your issue - thanks!

  • Make sure you're running the latest release. You can find your version number at the bottom of the Help menu in Catch.
  • Check the FAQ, your question might be answered there.
  • Check for an open issue, and please comment on that issue instead of creating a duplicate.

Similar issue here (Catch v2.1 running on OSX 10.13.6), I've observed it after a reboot and also in one case after a network outage was recovered from, in each case it triggered a re-download of about the previous ~10 (most recent) successful downloads. Don't recall ever seeing this behaviour with previous versions.

I only have a single RSS feed (from ShowRSS) configured and the recent log entries show the new downloads as obvious repeats ...

This behaviour is happening for me also, it seams to download the last three weeks of active shows from my ShowRRS feed, every time CATCH is restarted, this can some times amount to 50+ shows. I'm running catch 2.1 (780) on a VMware instance of MacOS Big Sur 11.6 with something like 75 shows listed in my ShowRRS free, of which about 50 are active, I think I should probably expend some time and effort cleaning up my feed. Thanks for any assistance

Fixed in 23ed6a4 – there will be no data loss from a power failure.

That said, it's extremely suspicious that this issue appeared just as ShowRSS pushed a change that resulted in re-downloads for everybody...

Can someone please download the latest (https://github.com/mipstian/catch/releases/tag/2.2) and confirm everything's fine before I add it to automatic update?

hey @mipstian. I've installed 2.2 and had many scheduled load shedding power failures and so far so good - no additional downloads. Thanks a bunch.
