Adding hyperlinks would slow page loading quite a bit and would also add visual clutter. I might implement this later, but for now you can have a look at #11 which I will work on soon
In my opinion, users should have the choice to enable the hyperlinks or not in the settings. For some people, jumping between pages is the primary/only use of wikipedia.
For the clutter, I'd recommend an option to remove the underline of the hyperlinks such that it's only the text color that tells it's a link and page looks less busy.
Hyperlinks in the articles are necessary in my opinion.
