I love the idea of a cross-references.xml dossier of connections and interconnections and reiterations. I particularly like that it doesn’t burden the episode TEI unduly. Would the WR interpolations, for example, also find a home in this separate file?

Just a thought on the xml:id naming convention: since we want to leave space for further references of a given kind that might crop up, what if instead of sequential numbering we went with the nearest lb number? So:

u06_hades.xml

Be good to Athos, Leopold <ref xml:id="lb_060125_athos"/>

u15_circe.xml

Athos, faithful after death. <ref xml:id="lb_152786_athos"/>

u17_ithaca.xml

be kind to Athos, Leopold... <ref xml:id="lb_171885_athos"/>

That way we don’t impose an order on the references that we have to do over if someone spots another reiteration.
