It would be great to have a very basic test suite just to catch simple errors before we publish.

the only contributor is sevko https://github.com/pelias/logger/graphs/contributors, it still doesn't have any test cases. AFAIK it works without issue but it would be wise to add at least a few basic tests and a suite runner so others can contribute.
