I've seen it posted to reddit before. Soemthing along the lines of "how do I get the audio recording of my loved ones off of the Waze app to keep forever? So-and-so passed away and their voice directions are sentimental". It's sad to read, and I've always wanted to help these people... so when I found out you actually can save the audio files, I was excited to share.
To save a custom voice direction, you need the
UUID
of the voicepack. What the heck is the UUID? Well, it is the unique identifier that all waze's shareable custom voice directions have. The UUID is the random string of letters, numbers, and dashes found in the shareable link. For example: https://waze.com/ul?acvp=e5573cae-b627-41f6-8d85-4c781e64aaaa
In the example above, the UUID is
e5573cae-b627-41f6-8d85-4c781e64aaaa
So now we take this UUID and concatenate
https://voice-prompts-ipv6.waze.com/
to the start of it and.tar.gz
to the end of it to make https://voice-prompts-ipv6.waze.com/e5573cae-b627-41f6-8d85-4c781e64aaaa.tar.gzEnter that link into a browser and a download should start for a compressed file containing all of the audio files used in that voice pack! Congratualtions, you have your mp3 files back!
