Possibility to vary band sizes

There is the band count, but could it be possible to have some larger and some smaller bands, to set a random factor to how much they can vary in size?

Well, the band speed is along the lines of cos(NumBands * Latitude) at the moment. If I can think of some clever formula, maybe, but nothing's immediately springing to mind.
