The software-store and software-updater icons are based on a capital letter A: a thick stroke on the left, a thin stroke on the right, and a progress bar as the crossbar.
This has two issues, which I’m reporting together because they’d almost certainly be resolved at the same time:
The thick and thin strokes are back to front. In almost any font that has obviously thick vs. thin strokes, strokes running northeast-southwest are nearly always thinner, while strokes running northwest-southeast are thicker.
It’s misleading for an icon to include a picture of a progress bar, when the icon is most often seen in a launcher where icons — including this one — can be overlaid by real progress bars. From @bramsvsin yaru#863:
It happened more than once to me that I interpreted the fake progress bar as a real one.., I can imagine this happens to lots of other users as well. Second, when actually updating, a real progress bar appears which looks like this:
It may save time to resolve #91 before this issue, if that results in one (or both) of the icons no longer using an A at all.

I'm definitely open to ideas to replace the A (it is kind of a lazy solution for "Apps").
FWIW, I like the use of the app grid symbol in Moka much better than an "A".
Because the app grid symbol means "show app grid" in Gnome, and appears prominently in Ubuntu at the bottom of the launcher... I wonder if combining the app grid symbol with a small "+" (maybe bottom right) would evoke the function of Software Centre in an intuitive way, for the app icon?
