I was wondering which font and/or package I need on Linux (Debian 9.8) in order to get the emoji to display correctly in my terminal. Would be nice to have this documented somewhere in the README maybe. As you can see for me it does not work:

Recent versions of Ubuntu support emoji out of the box using Google's emoji font via the fonts-noto-color-emoji package. It looks like that package also exists for Debian: https://packages.debian.org/sid/fonts/fonts-noto-color-emoji
