Research: Auto-installation with cloud-init

Description

Currently, Uyuni only supports operating system auto-installation using two methods:

• AutoYast profiles, for SUSE Linux based operating system (like SLES, and OpenSUSE)
• Kickstart Profiles, for Enterprise Linux operating systems (like centos and RHEL)

The goal of this research is to provide auto-installation support based on cloud-init, which will allow this feature to also work with Debian-based operating systems.

Tasks overview

• Update the Distributions page to support deb base operating systems (https://www.uyuni-project.org/uyuni-docs/en/uyuni/client-configuration/autoinst-distributions.html)
• Develop a new web page collect and save the cloud-init configuration (https://www.uyuni-project.org/uyuni-docs/en/uyuni/client-configuration/autoinst-profiles.html)
• Make the cloud-init file definition available for download from the client hosts
• Integrate with cobbler to make sure the right kernel options for cloud-init are in place
• Test the deployment process
