This happens a few minutes to hours after I start using it. The close button then doesn't work (I think the error repeats), so I have to end task.

Hi all,

I'm not able to replicate this. I'll need more information to point me in the right direction. I'll need someone to do either of the following:

  1. Run Twinkle Tray from Command Prompt or Powershell using the --console flag. (You cannot do this with the Microsoft Store version of Twinkle Tray. You must be running the version from GitHub or TwinkleTray.com.)
  2. Or just run Twinkle Tray from source. See the readme for instructions.

Then paste the console output here after you get this error message.

Hi,
I had the same problem when I was using the Microsoft Store version. Then I wanted to provide a console output to help troubleshoot the error and I uninstalled the Microsoft Store version and installed the version from the website. Now it works again without any problems, so maybe this solution will help others.

I have the exact same issue.
I manage to run twinkle-tray ms-store version in console by using the command start "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\38002AlexanderFrangos.TwinkleTray_1.16.6.0_x64__m7qx9dzpwqaze\app\Twinkle Tray.exe".
I'm not sure whether the console logs are useful or not.
But here's what my console printed.
And the error prompt occurred on the end of the log.txt

BTW, I'm using twinkle-tray on a laptop, with a edp screen and not a ddc one. Just for Idle Dimming feature :)
So my log will have plenty of ddc protocol errors.

Hey I had the same result as @gotzm00, using the version from the website instead of Microsoft Store fixed all the issues (and was surprisingly easy to install too).

Same on my laptop, and sometimes the name of the monitor is "undefined 1" instead of "screen 1"
