I tested the modified version successfully on a QTPY M0 and am able to use the library and simpletest script with these changes and get distance values with it.
I also tested on a feather S3 TFT with and without these changes and confirmed the distance returned is the same when the sensor is in the same position, so these changes do not interfere with behavior on builds that do have longint.
