About LD3 Tool

LD3 Tool is a web-based application that assists in designing and implementing a valid Ingest_LDD file for the development of a PDS local data dictionary.

A local data dictionary is created by defining a new Ingest_LDD class as described in the PDS core dictionary.

What is an Ingest_LDD file?

Using LD3 Tool results in a schematically valid Ingest_LDD file, which contains the new, fully-described Ingest_LDD class. This file can be useful for sharing between team members during the design phase of a new local data dictionary. It is largely human-readable and anyone could use LD3 to visualize it again.

Ultimately the new local data dictionary undergoes some degree of peer-review before being submitted to the PDS Engineering Node for ingestion and namespace registration. At that point, labels using elements defined in the local data dictionary would be completely valid.
