Steam Datagram Relay (SDR)
Under the abbreviation SDR and the IPv4 addresses a service of the company Valve Corporation is meant.
Stam Datagram Relay is a virtual & private gaming network, which sends multiplayer content via the server structure of Valve Corporation. The network can be used for P2P as well as dedicated servers and is active in numerous titles. The service runs during initialization and connects to the Internet. Regardless of whether users want to use a multiplayer component or not.
The advantages of in-house connectivity are faster ping times, as well as not having to rely on third-party structures such as the American technology company Microsoft Corporation's Azure or the german company Exit Games GmbH, which provides cross-platform real-time and multiplayer products and servers under the name Photon.
A significant disadvantage, however, is the fact that traffic can bypass the hosts unfiltered and the fact that about 3 dozen Ipv4 addresses are contacted per game session at once. A firewall of your choice can be used for blocking.
Users can find a hint on each product with SDR "# Steam Datagram Relay", so they know there is a lot more. Since IPv4 can't be blocked with hosts and it's waste of space i outsourced those addresses and have written a little article with a list to download.
The article itself is currently in german language only. Will be changed in near future.
